Experience the Rijksmuseum like never before on this unique tour that highlights not only iconic Dutch artists but also the remarkable stories of female, LGBTQ+, Jewish, and BIPOC figures. Led by expert Tanja Bladt-Cohen, this wheelchair-accessible journey redefines Dutch history, offering a fresh perspective on art and culture.
Amsterdam’s world-famous Rijksmuseum has it all: Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Vermeer, Frans Hals. It also has some incredible female, LGBTQ+, Jewish, and BIPOC badasses hiding in plain sight. This tour encompasses both.
Our (wheelchair accessible) tour explores the Rijksmuseum with a modern lens. The museum was built as a temple to Dutch history in the 19th century, but our understanding of that history has expanded since then. This tour explores the full breadth of Dutch and Amsterdam history, both the traditional figures and those often overlooked or misunderstood.
See the famous Dutch artists in a new light while also taking in some truly astounding works created by - and showcasing – the stories of women, LGBTQ+, Jewish, and BIPOC people in the Netherlands and beyond.
Badass Tours co-created this tour with artist, Rijksmuseum guide and art history obsessive Tanja Bladt-Cohen, who leads most of our Shifting the Frame tours!
