About

The main focus in our 2 day beginner course is safety, quality and fun. We will teach you how to achieve the freedive course goals in a comfortable and relaxed manner. You will be amazed how fast you will progress and what you can achieve with your body and mind. Freediving is all about relaxation and trust: we take the time for you to learn and experience freediving in your own pace.

The static and dynamic sessions in confined water are used to teach relaxation, breathing, finning and safety techniques. In the open water sessions, students will apply the skills they have learned in the pool / confined water sessions and combine them with the basic skills of open water freediving such as equalizing, duck diving, vertical swimming, body positioning, turns and use of buoyancy. The freediving theory includes: Introduction to Freediving, Freediving Breathing Cycle, Basic Physiology of Freediving, Equalization, Freediving Techniques, Safety in Freediving, Equipment in Freediving and Freediving Disciplines.

Knowledge development (you study the theory at home in your own pace) and we will provide practical theory lessons.

  • Pool session STATIC apnea
  • Pool session DYNAMIC freediving
  • Equalisation techniques & rescue skills
  • Breathing & Freediving techniques

More Info

Day 1 Class Structure (7:00AM-2:00PM): The day will start at 6am at the Ala Wai Harbor in Waikiki. From there will have a theory session on the beach. We will then move into the shallow ocean to practice Static and Dynamic apnea. We will go over rescue techniques for each of these disciplines. We will then learn some training concepts for our open water session that will be the following day.

We will then break for lunch, and while we eat will have another theory session before ending the day.

Day 2 Class Structure (7:30AM-1:00PM): Day 2 will start at 6:30am at the Ala Wai Harbor. We will start by finishing any remaining theory, then will get all of our gear and head out on a boat for our deep diving session.

In our deep diving session, we will focus on two main freediving disciplines, free immersion and constant weight. We will spend time practicing these disciplines and taking them up to the 20-meter depth limit.

We will then focus on the safety aspects of freediving. We will learn to save an unconscious diver from an underwater blackout and learn best practices to make sure everyone involved is always safe.

After the deep diving session, we will break for lunch and take the final exam to end the course.

Learn about the different types of freediving in this course:

  • Static Apnea: This type of freediving discipline involves the diver holding their breath for the maximum possible time while floating face down in a confined body of water. To qualify, the diver's respiratory system must remain fully submerged throughout the activity.
  • Dynamic Apnea: In this freediving discipline, the diver aims to cover the longest possible distance in a horizontal position underwater while in confined water. The activity can be done with or without fins.
  • Free Immersion: This discipline involves the use of a guide rope to descend as deep as possible and then return to the surface. This activity can also be done with or without fins.
  • Constant Weight: During this freediving discipline, the diver uses their own strength and technique to descend as deep as possible next to a guide rope without touching it. This discipline is performed in open water and can be done with or without fins.

What to Bring
