Float, Breathe, Repeat: SUP Yoga on Coe Lake

A 90-minute floating flow in Berea’s calmest water—no experience required.

Dawn slips into Berea like a calm breath. Coe Lake holds the light and doesn’t spill a drop—glass-still, patient, inviting. Boards fan out from the dock one by one, anchored in a quiet arc as if the lake itself has arranged the class. You kneel first, toes testing the water’s cool hush, and feel the board say: I’ve got you. The instructor’s voice is steady and close, a shoreline presence even as you drift into the middle of the mirror. Inhale, the lake nods. Exhale, the current barely hums. And with that, the floating flow begins.

Trail Wisdom

Arrive Early and Waiver Up

Sign your waiver 24 hours in advance and be at the shoreline 15 minutes before class to get fitted, briefed, and on the water without rush.

Dress to Dry Fast

Wear quick-drying yoga or swimwear; avoid heavy cotton, jeans, and fleece. Shoes aren’t worn on boards—barefoot is best for grip and balance.

Choose the Right Board

If you’re taller than 6' or over 180 lbs, select a 12' board at registration for added stability during the flow.

Leave Valuables Behind

Phones and valuables aren’t permitted on the water. Secure them in your vehicle and bring only your ID, towel, and water.

Seasonal Guide

spring

Best for: Cool, quiet mornings, Wildlife sightings

Challenges: Cold water temps, Unpredictable showers

Crisp air and calmer crowds make spring serene, but water remains chilly—dress in quick-dry layers and consider a light top with UPF.

summer

Best for: Warm water, Golden-hour sessions

Challenges: Heat and sun exposure, Higher demand

The prime season: comfortable water, long days, and lush shoreline. Book ahead and bring sun protection and plenty of water.

fall

Best for: Mirror-like mornings, Foliage reflections

Challenges: Cooling temps, Shorter daylight

Crisp air and bright leaves make fall sublime for SUP yoga. Expect cooler starts and pack a light layer for the breeze.

winter

Best for: Quiet shoreline walks, Off-season planning

Challenges: Classes may pause, Freezing conditions

On-water sessions typically pause; use winter to plan and book for spring. Explore nearby trails and overlooks instead.

Photographer's Notes

Phones aren’t permitted on the water, so shoot before and after from the shoreline. Go early for glassy reflections, and use a polarizing filter to cut glare and deepen greens. Frame paddlers against willows or mirrored clouds; shoot low to the waterline for a sense of float. Golden hour burnishes skin tones and softens highlights—perfect for action portraits during launch and landing.

What to Bring

Microfiber TowelEssential

Quickly dries you and your board-side feet post-session without adding bulk.

Leakproof Water Bottle (20–24 oz)Essential

Hydration is key under the sun; keep it simple and sip before/after class.

UPF Long-Sleeve or Rashguard

Provides sun protection and a light barrier when breezes pick up on the water.

Hat with Strap or Sunglass Retainer

Prevents wind from stealing your shade and keeps optics secure during transitions.

Common Questions

Do I need prior yoga or paddle boarding experience?

No. A brief SUP and safety lesson starts each First Class, and the flow includes options for all levels.

Selected images are posted on the provider’s social media within about a week, subject to schedule and availability.

What to Pack

Valid ID for check-in; Quick-dry athletic or swimwear to stay comfortable on the board; Mineral sunscreen and a strap-back hat for sun protection; A microfiber towel for a quick dry-off after class.
