About Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area

Situated in southern Nevada, Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area lies along the banks of the Colorado River, just a few miles downstream from Laughlin. The area is characterized by desert landscapes, rocky outcrops, and riverine environments, offering a unique blend of ecological diversity. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreation activities, including boating, kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the river, as well as hiking through arid desert trails. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including bighorn sheep, coyotes, and numerous bird species, attracting wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Historical evidence suggests the area's usage by Native American tribes, and later, by settlers and miners during the westward expansion.
