Laurel Hill State Park Adventures

Laurel Hill State Park is located in Somerset County, southwestern Pennsylvania, encompassing over 3,000 acres of mostly forested land within the Laurel Highlands. The park features the 70-acre Laurel Hill Lake, created by damming a tributary of the Youghiogheny River. The terrain varies from rolling hills to steep ridges, covered predominantly by mixed hardwood forests including oak, maple, and hemlock, which support a wide variety of wildlife such as white-tailed deer, black bears, and diverse bird species. Established in 1945, the park was initially developed with assistance from the Civilian Conservation Corps, leaving behind stone structures and pavilions now cherished for their historical value.
