Blue Mound State Park

Located near the cities of Madison and Baraboo, Blue Mound State Park is named for the striking blue coloration of its two prominent bluffs. The park covers over 1,150 acres and is the highest point in Southern Wisconsin, rising 1,719 feet above sea level. The ecology of the park is diverse, with deciduous forest interspersed with open prairie areas. The park's history dates back to Native American use, with European settlers arriving in the 19th century. Popular for both its natural beauty and recreational options, visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and in winter, cross-country skiing.
