Gullfoss Nature Reserve, located in the southwest of Iceland, is centered around one of the most iconic waterfalls in Iceland, Gullfoss, which means 'Golden Falls.' This area is part of the larger Golden Circle tourist route, which also includes the nearby Geysir geothermal area and Thingvellir National Park. The Hvítá River plummets down in two stages, creating a dramatic visual spectacle that draws visitors year-round. The landscape around Gullfoss is characteristic of Icelandic nature, with its rugged terrain, sweeping vistas, and opportunities for wildlife viewing, including bird species that are native to the region. Gullfoss has significant historical importance as it was pivotal in Iceland's early conservation efforts.
