Covering over 100,000 acres, Yushan National Park is centered around the towering Yushan, also known as Jade Mountain, which rises to 3,952 meters, making it the tallest mountain in Taiwan and East Asia. The park's diverse ecosystems range from subtropical to alpine forests, supporting over 2,000 species of vascular plants and a wide variety of wildlife, including the Formosan black bear and the Mikado pheasant. Originally inhabited by indigenous Taiwanese, the park's rich history is reflected in its cultural sites and historical trails.
