Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, located 17 miles west of Las Vegas, spans over 195,000 acres within the Mojave Desert. Known for its impressive geologic features, the area showcases vivid red sandstone peaks and sheer rock walls that have been shaped over millions of years. Throughout the conservation area, visitors can explore a variety of ecosystems ranging from desert flats to rugged canyons, home to diverse flora and fauna such as Joshua trees, cholla cacti, and desert bighorn sheep. Historically, the canyon has been occupied by Native American cultures, evident in its petroglyphs and ancient agave roasting pits. Provides a dynamic range of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, rock climbing, and photography, Red Rock Canyon is especially popular for its 13-mile scenic drive that offers breathtaking views of the area's topographical diversity.
