Vatnsnes Important Bird Area

Vatnsnes Important Bird Area (IBA) covers a coastal region on the Vatnsnes Peninsula in northern Iceland, extending along the shores of Húnaflói Bay. This area features a variety of habitats including rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, and shallow bays, making it an essential breeding and feeding ground for numerous seabird species. Key avian species include the common eider, Arctic tern, great black-backed gull, and various species of auks such as puffins and guillemots.
