The Day We’ll get an early start from the town of Jackson to experience the best wildlife viewing hours of the day. From the comfort of our 4x4 vehicle, use our high quality spotting scopes or binoculars to catch a glimpse of a moose and her calf as they greet the day, or photograph a bighorn sheep as it scales the snowy cliffs and craggy areas of Miller Butte. Your experienced and professional EcoTour guide will lead you on an educational tour through the dramatic natural environment of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, teaching you interesting tidbits on winter ecology, animal adaptations to a harsh Wyoming winter, and snow science.
After you enjoy the morning viewing wildlife in Grand Teton National Park, we’ll visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art, an architectural feat inspired by the ruins of Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. We will wander through the Museum’s 51,000 square feet of award winning collections from the 19th and 20th centuries as you guide helps you explore the fantastic works of art. Enjoy lunch with a view at Palate, the museums restaurant, which overlooks the Elk Refuge. Our day concludes with a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge for an up close view and educational tour of a wintering elk herd that numbers in the thousands.
