About This Adventure

Join us for an unforgettable exploration of Ion Swamp, a vibrant habitat teeming with diverse wildlife including songbirds, reptiles, and rare Longleaf Pines. This informative hike, starting at the Sewee Visitors Center, offers a chance to learn about conservation while enjoying the beauty of nature and possibly spotting endangered species.

Come out and Explore Ion Swamp with us. This habitat holds a great deal of diversity for all the nature lovers. Thing we can view on the hike are a variety of songbirds, birds of prey, reptiles and amphibians, wildflowers, and a variety of insect species. Here you can also view endangered Longleaf Pine and possibly Red-cockaded Woodpecker. This is a very informative hike aimed at educating people about these habitats and why it is important to protect them.

This tour meets at the Sewee Visitors Center, where we can enjoy the Interpretive Center and take a short walk to see the critically endangered Red Wolves. This has restroom facilities onsite. You will then follow the guide a short drive to Ion Swamp Trail. This trail is a very easy hike of just under a mile.
