Tofino has a long whale watching season, running from March through to November. It starts with a mind-boggling 20,000 Grey Whales swimming past our shores in spring on their annual migration from birthing waters by the Baja Peninsula north to the Bering Strait by Alaska. Some of these massive mammals stay in our waters for the summer, giving ample opportunities for viewing. We also see Killer Whales and Humpback Whales feeding and playing in the waters of Clayoquot Sound. Cruise through Clayoquot Sound in comfort and style onboard our semi-covered boats. Enjoy a heated and covered seating area with large windows for viewing and a large outside back deck to view wildlife.
Passengers are advised to dress warmly.
Please check in 30 minutes before your tour departs. Once everyone has checked in, we will head to the dock to start our 2.5 hour adventure. Once underway, your guide will introduce you to the Clayoqout Sound ecosystem and wildlife as we cruise out looking for whales, sea lions, sea otters and more. We will spend time viewing whales while your guide is able to give insights into behaviours and natural history. Please note, this tour is on open ocean, and we can experience swell. If you are not comfortable with open ocean sea conditions, we suggest booking a Bear Watching Tour.
We look forward to having you onboard!
We suggest not drinking a big drink before the 4 hour tour. Please note there is no washroom on board.
We recommend sweaters, long pants and closed-toe shoes to be worn by all passengers for their comfort. Remember to bring sunglasses, a warm hat, sunscreen, camera and your sense of adventure! A snack and water is suggested.
