More info

This flight offers some of the best views of the region while exploring the Hauraki Gulf. Once in the air, there is the opportunity to spot marine wildlife in their natural habitat. The Hauraki Gulf is home to about 45 Bryde’s whales year-round, plus migrating whales and larger pods of dolphins.

No two flight paths are the same on this experience as the route will vary to give you the best chance of having the opportunity to see these stunning creatures from a unique perspective.

Our most common routes typically pass over areas to the east of Waiheke Island, the Coromandel Peninsula and the Treasure Islands, since these areas have deeper waters and are popular locations for whales to be seen.

Alternatively, heading out over the majestic beach and quaint town of Oneroa, you will see views of Motutapu Island, Motuihe Island, New Zealand’s youngest volcano – Rangitoto, Devonport and its associated Navy Base, Auckland Harbour Bridge, Sky Tower and Mechanic Bay.

Out and back to the base at Waiheke, you will be able to enjoy unique local views of the beautiful beaches, vineyards, coastline and mountain ranges of the Coromandel Peninsula
