Each half-day trip goes to 2 different dive locations and spends approximately an hour at each site. Our travel time to the reef line is about 30 minutes. As most of our dive depths do not exceed 27', and dive sites aren't very far apart, surface intervals are very short.
Coral formations are often only 10 feet below the surface. These shallow dives equate to more fish, more bottom time, more color, and decreased risk.
Our trips are designed to meet the needs of a variety of activities and ages. Unless specifically booked for deeper depths, trips generally have a combination of scuba divers, SNUBA® divers, and snorkelers onboard. Certified divers will be diving in buddy teams. If you do not have a buddy, you have the option of making a friend on the trip or hiring a professional to guide you.
We have over 30 different dive locations to choose from at Tilden’s Scuba Center, with our premier dive site being Sombrero Reef Sanctuary. Sombrero is identified by its lighthouse, which has been there since 1858 and is still used for navigation today. We also dive Coffin's Patch Sanctuary, which harbors the largest stand of live Pillar Coral in all of North America.
Ensure weather and sea conditions are suitable before heading out, especially during storm season.
Use waterproof cases for your valuables and camera equipment to fully capture the underwater scenery.
Reef trips are popular—reserve your spot early to secure your preferred date.
Respect the reef by keeping a safe distance and not touching marine life or coral structures.
