About This Adventure

Embark on a unique unguided kayaking adventure through a stunning wildlife refuge, where you can encounter diverse birds and animals, including bald eagles and alligators. Enjoy the tranquility of the Waccamaw River while capturing unforgettable moments amidst the breathtaking scenery. Perfect for both seasoned paddlers and newcomers!

If you have never kayaked we recommend a guided tour for your first trip on the river.

Travel through the protected wildlife refuge dominated by bald cypress, water tupelo and isolated strands of rare Atlantic White Cedar.

With your 2-hour & 3-hour rentals you may see:

  • Birds such as Herons, Egrets, Wood Storks, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Ducks, Prothonatary Warblers (aka Swamp Canaries), Woodpeckers
  • Animals such as Snakes, Beaver, Otter, Deer, River Otters, the occasional Alligator, numerous species of Turtles, Barred Owls, Mississippi Kites, and Coopers Hawks
  • A multitude of Neotropical migratory songbirds

The banks of the Waccamaw are an important travel corridor for the rare Coastal Black Bear, wild turkey, wild boar and deer.
