Fayette is a ghost town in Upper Michigan that that thrived from 1867 to 1891. Formerly an iron smelting town, you can still visit the abandoned blast furnace, school, hotel, and many other buildings, several of which have been preserved.
The route of this cruise follows the towering limestone cliffs of the west coast of Washington Island, then crosses open water to reach the Garden Peninsula of Upper Michigan. Once at Snail Shell Harbor, we will drop you off to tour historic Fayette. You can bring a picnic lunch, stroll through the old streets overlooking the Bay, or even take the trail that leads you high atop the limestone cliff overlooking the town.
