Dear Daring Soul and Brave Adventurer,

Thank you for choosing to follow us into the wonderful world of winter paddling! We feel confident that you'll love it and want to come back many many more times. Let us first and foremost reassure you that you will be (relatively) warm, and completely safe (unrelated, please make sure to fill out our digital waiver ahead of time ;) ). Let us also reassure you that everyone of your friends is going to think you're crazy, especially when you post pictures on Facebook and Instagram (and tag @coasttocoastpaddle!).

Where will we meet?

If you're renting a wetsuit from us, we'll meet at the shop 45 minutes to an hour before the tour starts. If you haven't visited us yet, we're at 296a Cabot Street in Beverly. There is a parking lot behind the building (turn down West Dane Street to get there). Knock three times on the yellow door, wait for the two-knock response, then come in (kidding).

Wetsuits or drysuits are required for this tour, but if you have your own and would prefer to meet us at the water instead, you can meet us at Independence Park in Beverly, ready to launch for the tour start time. (Lothrop Street, Beverly, MA).

What should I wear?

  • Cold weather gear is required for these tours, as the risk of hypothermia due to exposure is great without protective gear. This includes either a wetsuit or drysuit, booties, and gloves. If you're wearing a wetsuit, we STRONGLY recommend at least a 4mm suit.

We also recommend you bring:

  1. A wool or synthetic winter hat.
  2. Winter gloves to change into once off the water.
  3. Some sort of windbreaker or fleece jacket to wear over your wetsuit for extra warmth and wind protection.

What to expect when you get here

  1. We'll help select the appropriate sized wetsuit, booties, and gloves for you if you are renting.
  2. Begin the process of donning your gear. The first time will be a struggle. This is normal and part of the experience. It gets easier each time. (Out of consideration for future paddlers, please wear some sort of undergarment beneath your wetsuit. Bathing suits or synthetic items are best; avoid cotton if at all possible.
  3. We only have two changing areas, so we'll take turns. In the meantime, you can pay if you still need to, sign a waiver if you haven't, or check out our awesome Adventure Gear Exchange!
  4. Once everyone is dressed and ready to go, we'll caravan down to our launch location. Carpooling is encouraged, because increased global warming is going to hurt our ability to do winter paddle tours.
  5. Please note: For planning the rest of your day, the event time is listed as two hours, but that is the rough "on the water" time. Total time spent with us will be closer to 3 or 3.5 hours.

Additional Items To Bring

  1. If you have a thermos and want to bring a hot beverage along, it only makes the experience better!
  2. Waterproof camera if you have one, or phone with waterproof case, to prove to all of your friends how rugged you are! (Please note- we don't really recommend bringing your phone on the water with you. There is a strong likelihood that it will get wet, or fall in and sink to the bottom. Nonetheless, we know the desire to bring phones, so just be very very careful if you do :) ).
  3. Towels, both for wrapping and putting down in your car after getting off the water.

*Please be aware that there is a chance that anything you wear or bring with you can get wet, so keep that in mind when choosing.

Summer Tours

Where do we meet?

  • We'll meet you at our Beverly Kiosk at Independence Park. If you're using a GPS, you can use 33 Lothrop Street as an address. There is free on street parking at and near the park. If it's a weekend, make sure to save a little extra time to find parking. Please plan on arriving five to ten minutes ahead of time and ready to go so we can make sure to get you on the water as quickly as possible!

What should I wear?

  • Anything you are comfortable (potentially) getting wet. Most people choose to wear either just a swim suit, board shorts, or active wear, such as shorts and a tanktop or t-shirt

Should I wear shoes?

  • Most people choose to go barefoot while on the board or in the kayak, but we do recommend wearing a flip flop or water shoe to protect your feet while walking to the water over rocks or shells. You are more than welcome to wear shoes while paddling, or you can stash them under the deck bungees.

What else do I need to bring with me?

  • It's a great idea to bring water and sunscreen, as well as a snack if you will be out for multiple hours. Other than that, keep a towel in your car for when you're done, and enjoy the simplicity of being on the water.
