Gegenüber der Innenstadt liegt, eingebettet ins Flussdelta, die zweitgrößte bewohnte Flussinsel der Welt. Die Fahrt wartet mit einer großen Vielseitigkeit auf: wir passieren wilde Flussufer und Auen, natürliche Priele, Kanäle und einsame Anleger. Naturschutzgebiete wechseln sich ab mit Industrien, Kaianlagen und spektakulärer Architektur. Hafencity und Bunthäuser Spitze, Heuckenlock und Elbbrücken, Harburger Seehafen und Kraftwerk Moorburg sowie die Containerbrücken in Altenwerder bilden Etappen unseres Törns, bei dem es auch um Flutschutz, Stromumleitungen und Flussdurchstiche gehen wird, mit denen der Fluss an die Stadt herangeführt wurde.
