About

Learn about Vieques history and cultural heritage on this unique 2.5 hour tour on our amazing island!

Logistically we starts from city capital of Isabel Segunda, which honors the Queen of Spain, is the place to stroll around the shops, art galleries, restaurants and coffee shops while enjoying the views:

  • The Fort Conde de Mirasol; The last spanish fortification built. -Dr.Roberto Rabin Legacy
  • Main Square Plaza Luis Muñoz Rivera, The City Hall or Casa Alcaldía, The Bust of Simón Bolivar Monument, and the Vieques High School.
  • Churches; Catholic, Episcopal; the second oldest anglican church built in Puerto Rico and methodist.
  • Lighthouses; Faro Punta Mulas. -Santa Maria -Las Tumbas de Leguillou and La Plaza de Leguillou
-Bastimento -Los Bravos de Boston -Mural de Sandra Reyes -Murales de Carlos Gil -Puente de Mambiche -El Cañón -Monte Santo- is one of the largest neighborhoods on the island.

-Mosquitos Stops area; El Arbol de Ceiba and Mosquito Pier We will visit El Parque Ecológico Costero La Ceiba, is the oldest Ceiba Tree on the east region of Puerto Rico.

Close from there will go to the Mosquito Pier or El Rompeolas, also used by the U.S. Navy on the west end;

The Bunkers to store munitions this side of the island opened to the public on 2001 ( we will coordinate extra time in case you decide to use time of the tour to see this, if is your interest).

From this side of the island you will enjoy panoramic views overlooking the islands, such as Culebra, St. Thomas, St. Jhon, and El Yunque Rainforest (From Vieques to the main island).

Finally, we will visit the South, from where, on clear days, you can spot St.Croix, (if you want to add beach this is the time to include Caracas Beach which is inside the largest Fish and Wildlife Refuge in US).

The drive to the South is approximately 17 minutes from Isabel Segunda. There, we will also visit Sun Bay Beach, which is the biggest beach with plenty of shade and palm trees and also part of the Reserve of Puerto Mosquito (remember if you want to do the biobay tour, try to book the first one of the night, that will get you on time to the ferry departure at 9:30 pm,right now most of them are starting at 7pm, I could help you to book that tour as well).

Next to it, you will find the town of Esperanza, with its fishermen’s stories representing the historic fight to defend the access to the beach from US Navy. El Malecon is located also in Esperanza where all the restaurants are by the beach.

-La Hueca, where the Arquelogical Site was Luis A.Chanlatte Baik found on 1981-1983. (If you have interes in archeology, we could add this two parts on the tour) -Later in the 1990’s found El Hombre de Puerto Ferro with Yvonne M. Narganes Storde.

Note: As you see we could +add/-change part of the tour to include the second lighthouse built on the south side of the island, Faro Punta Verdiales, this one is a trail of 500 feet away from the parking and maybe 30- 40 minutes on your tour. -Black Sand Beach and/or Caracas Beach are recommended if you decide to go for the Verdiales Lighthouse.

  • Crab Island Rum Distillery (Thursday to Sunday 12-5pm)
  • Fish Markets- If is on your interest make sure you let us know in advance, sometimes they offer delivery services for an addicional fee.
  • Art - if you want to shop, you could also request at the beginning of the tour, while you are planning after the tour head to the beaches. Remember many beaches are secluded, the only beach with restaurants is Esperanza beach, if you do the shopping at the beginning of the tour, try to get water and snacks in Isabel Segunda by the Ferry area.

Also you could add beach time in Esperanza, Black Sand Beach, Sun Bay or Caracas but please mention at the beginning of the tour, which will be extended or using tranportation from the tour time.

The tour will improve the cultural perspective of the island and enrich the local economy by supporting year-long residents and entrepreneurs who are improving and growing the island into a self sustainable island.

Please note at least 2 people need to book in order for tour to operate.
