A real CANADIAN experience. Let your eager and powerful dog team lead you into the magnificent old growth forest of the Callaghan Valley. Join your professional musher in harnessing and staging the dogs, learn the commands and feel the thrill of your team running through the forested trail. Relax with your family as you ride a mellow mix of open and winding trails for an unforgettable winter journey, with plenty of photo opportunities.

Notes and Restrictions

  • The maximum combined weight for a dogsled is 350lbs/160kg. If you are over 350lbs/106kg but under 375lbs/170kg, please call us to see if we can accommodate your request.
  • Minimum age to participate is 4+ years.
  • 2 people + 1 child is the maximum capacity in one sled.
  • Dogsled participants are required to wear a protective helmet, such as a bicycle or ski/snowboard helmet.
  • All minors (under 19 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • All groups require a minimum of one translator to interpret the waivers. Translators must be 19+ years and speak both English and the language of the group fluently enough to translate the waiver. Dogsled tours do not require a translator for the tour, just the waiver process.
  • Under no circumstances is any person suspected to be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol permitted to go as a driver or passenger on any tour. Persons denied participation will not receive a refund.
  • Due to safety requirements, pregnant women are not permitted to participate in our Dogsled tours. Expecting mothers are welcome on our Snowcat or Snowshoe tours.
  • Adventure sport activities are not recommended for individuals who suffer back or neck pain, heart or respiratory distress. Consult your physician prior to participation.
  • A signed waiver must be completed before your trip.

What to Bring

  • Wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Winter jacket, snow pants, winter gloves and winter boots. We strongly encourage you to wear your own winter gear, however we have limited outerwear to borrow in the event you are missing any pieces.
  • Goggles or sunglasses are strongly recommended.
  • A ski, snowboard or bike helmet. In the event you are not travelling with a helmet a limited quantity are available to borrow.
  • A camera or phone to take photos and share moments.

Adventure Tips

Dress in Layered Winter Clothing

Bring moisture-wicking base layers, insulated mid-layers, and a waterproof outer shell to stay warm and dry during the tour.

Wear Protective Helmets

Helmets are mandatory for all riders; bring your own ski or bike helmet or borrow one onsite to ensure safety on the sled.

Arrive Early for Check-In

Check-in at Carleton Lodge 30 minutes before departure to allow time for gear fitting and briefing, preventing delays or missed tours.

Respect Dogs’ Space

Follow your musher’s guidance when interacting with the sled dogs to keep both guests and animals safe and comfortable.
