What to Bring

  • Water, snacks, camera Please do not bring any valuable items you do not want to be a possible sacrifice to the ocean

Clothing

  • Light layer, warm layer, and rain jacket (or windbreaker)
  • Jeans and cotton clothing are NOT recommended. Synthetic and natural fibers that do not lose insulation when wet (ex. Merino wool and fleece) or other quick-dry materials are recommended.

  • Due to the glare of the water it is important to bring sun protection

Footwear

  • 4-hour tours: any comfortable footwear (sneakers, running shoes, sandals, etc)

  • We recommend bringing a light snack (granola bar, piece of fruit, trail mix, etc) on the 4-hour tours

Adventure Tips

Dress in layers with quick-dry fabrics

Temperate rainforest weather can shift quickly—wear moisture-wicking layers and bring waterproof outerwear.

Bring sun protection

Even on overcast days, reflection off the water increases UV exposure—pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.

Wear sturdy, comfortable footwear

The Big Tree Trail has boardwalks and natural uneven forest floor; closed shoes with grip are best.

Pack a light snack and water

Hydration and energy are important during the combined paddle and hike of this 4-hour tour.
