Spend two hours learning from an expert and then take control of a vintage diesel locomotive on the Museum's main line. This unique opportunity is perfect for adventure seekers aged 18 and up. Our Throttle Time program lets you try your hand at being a locomotive engineer of a vintage diesel locomotive. Throttle Time sessions are offered on Sundays by reservation only. The fare for this experience is $250.
For this 2 hour-long session, you will first spend time observing and learning how to operate one of the Museum's diesel locomotives from an experienced Museum engineer. You will then spend the remainder of your time at the throttle of the locomotive on the Museum's main line, under the supervision of your engineer.
In order to be a Throttle Time engineer, you must be at least 18 years old, physically able to climb up to and enter the locomotive cab, and able to operate the locomotive controls. Please arrive at the Kentucky Railway Museum 15 minutes prior your time slot.
