Makes a great day’s activity. Spend more time in nature to further connect with the wildlife, plants, wildflowers and the ecology of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Drinking water, picnic lunch, trail snacks, transportation, and the use of packs and binoculars are included. Distances 5-8 miles with varying elevations. Tours customized to your interest and physical ability.
The high-elevation mountains and valleys of Wyoming and Idaho can bring a full range of weather on any given day of the year. It is not uncommon to see a 40 degree temperature change either. Layered, non-cotton clothing and appropriate outerwear is the key to staying comfortable in the mountains. Also note that freezing, windy weather can occur even in July and August. For your comfort and safety, please follow this list carefully. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to consult with us. And be sure to bring your camera!
We provide: Naturalist guide, transportation, drinking water, lunch, binoculars, guidebooks, butterfly nets, complimentary children’s activity book for all youngsters, backpacks or waist packs, and rain ponchos, if needed.
You bring: An extra warm upper layer in case temperatures get cool while you are in the mountains. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots. We provide rain ponchos but if you are planning an all-day trip, personal rain gear is nice to bring. A personal water bottle if you have one to reduce the use of plastic bottles.
Trail conditions can vary from rocky to soft dirt, so sturdy footwear is essential.
Weather in Wyoming can change rapidly; packing a lightweight rain jacket ensures comfort.
Carry plenty of water—staying hydrated keeps energy levels up throughout the hike.
