The Thompson-Neely House served as a temporary regimental army hospital during Washington’s winter campaign of 1776-77.
Once the centerpiece of a working farm and milling complex, the house is surrounded by outbuildings typical of 18th century farm life, including a smokehouse, chicken coop, and a fully-functional grist mill.
The Thompson-Neely house itself Is currently closed for restoration work, Tours will be of the Grist mill across the street
Due to ongoing renovations at the house as well as damage sustained to the paths and tail race, it is no longer possible to travel safely between the Thompson-Neely House and the Mill, as such tours will consist primarily of the mill, and we will meet at the mill for the tour. Guests should park, in the lot indicated on the map which can be accessed via the Wildflower Preserve Entrance.
