About

Your guide will share the rich history, habitat and aquaculture of Penn Cove while you paddle along bluffs fringed with stately madrona trees and under the watchful eyes of herons and eagles. This journey is a great introduction to kayaking, with all equipment included and no experience necessary. Cap your adventure with a drink or meal at the restaurant of The Captain Whidbey, enjoying a front-seat view of the cove.

What to Expect:

We meet our paddlers on the dock of the Captain Whidbey Inn. Before we leave the dock, you’ll get to know your guide(s) and the equipment. We’ll make sure you’re properly outfitted, prepared, and comfortable before we begin paddling.

Some physical mobility is required - you will need to sit on the dock and then move into a seated position in the kayak. When the tour is done, you will move from the kayak back to the dock and then raise onto your knees before you stand up.

What's Included:

• Trained, experienced local guide or guides • We recommend that families with children under the age of 10 consider a shorter experience, such as our Family Family tour or a 90-minute rental • We provide paddles, life jackets and waterproof cell phone cases • Tandem (2-person) kayaks are used on Captain's Loop tours. For odd-numbered groups, we’ll fill the extra space in the remaining kayak with another customer from a different group or with one of our crew. If you or any of your party must be in a single kayak, please book a private Langley Loop tour instead.

What to Bring:

• Water — at least one liter • Sun and eye protection (sunglasses and/or a hat with a brim) • Synthetic, athletic clothes and shoes that can get sandy or wet (or go barefoot) • Avoid cotton clothing like jeans and sweatshirts; they dry slowly and are chilly when wet

Group and Equipment Policy:

  • Groups of three or less may sign up for group tours, however, the tour will not go out with less than 4 people and is subject to canceling, rescheduling, or upgrading to a private.

Want a private trip?

Up to four people, $450 plus tax and fees. Each additional person is $75.
