Comfortable swimmers who can paddle steadily for 60–90 minutes with breaks; moderate upper-body and core endurance.
The Soča River doesn’t just flow—it hustles, teases, and invites you to match its pace. This guided rafting run near Bovec blends approachable rapids, alpine scenery, and a dash of history, with clear advice on when to go and what to bring.
Stand on a footbridge over the Soča and the river seems to breathe—emerald and insistent, pressing downstream as if impatient to show you the next bend. Slip into a raft and it greets you with a cold handshake, then urges the crew forward. Guides call the rhythm, paddles bite, and the current does what it does best: it hustles, it teases, it dares you to keep tempo.

The Soča stays chilly year-round. Wetsuits and booties are provided, but wear a swimsuit and bring a warm layer for after the trip.
Use a strap for glasses or sunglasses; only bring action cameras with mounts you’re willing to lose if they pop free.
Neoprene booties are usually provided—avoid flip-flops and loose sandals that can wash away or snag.
Be comfortable in moving water and listen for paddle calls; coordinated crews make rapids smoother and safer.
This valley was the WWI Isonzo Front; museums in Kobarid and fortifications at Kluže interpret the battles that shaped the region.
Parts of the river corridor lie within Triglav National Park. Use only marked put-ins/take-outs, pack out trash, and avoid rock-stacking or trampling fragile riverbanks.
Wear under the wetsuit for comfort and quick drying after the trip.
You’ll finish wet; warm layers make the shuttle back and lunch in Bovec more comfortable.
High-altitude sun and reflective water increase exposure even on cool days.
