Local Impact: How you will help the local community by joining this tour:
Your local guide will meet you at the bottom of Wawel Hill and within 4 hours will show you all the ‘must-see’ places in the Old Town and Kazimierz district, but from a whole new, local perspective. At first, we will climb for some extraordinary panoramic views and, after seeing the facade of the Royal Cathedral and the courtyard of the Royal Castle, we will go down the Royal Route up to the Main Market Square. We’ll pass by all the popular landmarks like the Collegium Maius, Cloth Hall, Town Hall Tower, and St. Marry’s Basilica, but you’ll also hear the extraordinary stories and anecdotes behind them all. Forget the historical facts – we’re going to share the secrets from our monarch’s private lives and even let you in on a tale or two about Copernicus, Pope John Paul II, and a famous rabbi – Remuh.
After a short break in the very heart of the city, we’ll walk towards Kazimierz, the most local and beloved district of Krakow. This is the former Jewish quarter, where every single home and building has its own fascinating story to tell, a unique neighborhood where the old and new coexist, where art galleries and cafes share equal space with monuments of Jewish culture. This is also the place where portions of Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List were filmed.
Our tour will end in the catholic part of Kazimierz in the middle of Wolnica Square. Great place for different options: you can come back to the city center (just 10 minutes walking), have a stroll or a cruise along the Vistula river, grab a local lunch, or take with us another tour to the former ghetto and Schindler museum which will start in the same place at 2 p.m.
