About

Even diehard “do-it-yourselfers” should consider a few important logistics before deciding to rent bikes and tour totally unsupported.

For starters, Napa Valley is a protected Agricultural Preserve and as such, the wineries within this pristine area are prohibited from serving or selling food. You will also find that delis and markets are few and far between within the Ag Preserve, which is no big deal when the next town is only a 15-min drive away, but something to consider when traveling by bike.

And if you’re planning to purchase wine during your bike ride, carrying it while biking can pose another obstacle. Even if you bring a backpack, you’ll risk damaging your prized finds by exposing them to heat.

With all this in mind, you can improve your experience exponentially by choosing a Self-Guided Bike Tour. You’ll still pedal at your own pace, stopping at wineries you’ve chosen to visit; but, you’ll enjoy the added conveniences of having your wine purchases picked up for you and a delicious Bouchon Bakery picnic lunch delivered to a winery* along your route.

  • Wine tasting appointment required when you will be picnicking onsite at a winery.
