Enhance your kayaking skills in this dynamic Sea Kayaking II class at Jack London Square. Focus on boat control, rescue techniques, and navigation in varied conditions, preparing you for more challenging waters. This course is essential for aspiring paddlers looking to master rougher environments and elevate their kayaking adventures.
In this inspiring class, we work extensively on edging and boat lean for ultimate boat control and maneuverability. We review rescues and apply them to rougher water, introduce basic navigation techniques including the use of ranges, fine-tune the forward stroke, and learn some new strokes such as a sideslip. The idea is to prepare the student for paddling in a wide range of conditions, including surf, rough water and increase their overall kayaking skills, boat control, balance, and rescue skills. This class is the stepping stone to the Surf Zone and beyond. These skills will prove invaluable in your future kayaking excursions, especially in rougher conditions.
This class is equivalent to an American Canoe & Association Level 3 course.
