Weather in Brecon can change quickly; be prepared for rain and cooler temperatures on the water.
A dry barrel or dry bag is provided, but extra waterproof protection keeps your gear safe during the paddle.
The canal is calm but covering 7 miles in 4 hours is best managed by pacing yourself steadily without rushing.
Even on cloudy days, UV rays can be strong on open water—wear sunscreen and bring a hat.
The canal was built as part of the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal in the early 19th century to support local industry and transport, now treasured for recreation.
Operators emphasize low-impact paddling and encourage visitors to respect canal wildlife and keep the waterway clean.
