Shuttle from El Nogal Trailhead to Garcia Park for an abbreviated 13 miles of (mostly) downhill South Boundary Trail goodness.
Garcia Park is approximately 2/3 of the way down the South Boundary Trail and skips the first climb to Osha Pass.
To add those miles back, some folks do an out-and-back on the appropriately named "Heaven on Earth" section east of Garcia Park before heading down the trail to Taos.
The South Boundary trail is remote, and no services are available. You should be self-sufficient if something goes wrong. At the bare minimum we recommend you bring:
Bring a quality mountain bike tuned for downhill sections and a helmet to ensure safety throughout the ride.
Book your shuttle spots in advance to secure your preferred start time and avoid delays.
Carry enough water since there are limited refill points along the trail, especially in warmer months.
Be prepared for rocky and root-covered parts that require attentive riding and moderate technical skills.
The South Boundary Trail was originally developed to connect historic logging routes and has since evolved into a premier mountain biking corridor in Taos.
Shuttle Taos promotes Leave No Trace principles to minimize environmental impact and supports trail maintenance initiatives that help preserve this natural landscape.
Provides maximum protection for downhill sections of the trail.
Keep water easily accessible during hot, dry rides.
