Mad Dogs & Englishmen is a guided electric bike tour operator offering curated e-bike experiences along California’s central and southern coasts. Based in Santa Barbara, California, the company runs guided tours and rentals that highlight coastal scenery, historic sites, and iconic local landmarks. Tours include routes through Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Monterey Peninsula and 17-Mile Drive, and a Montecito coastline experience that serves visitors and locals alike.
Mad Dogs & Englishmen provides a unique dog-friendly option: custom electric bikes equipped with handmade sidecars so guests can bring dogs on select tours. Several tours are listed as 2.5-hour guided experiences, allowing riders to cover scenic routes with less exertion thanks to electric assist. Guides lead groups to notable stops such as Carmel Mission, Mission Ranch, Pebble Beach, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium depending on the chosen itinerary.
Group policies are stated for some tours: a minimum of four participants is required for non-private tours to operate on certain 17-Mile Drive departures. When minimums are not met, alternatives include converting to a self-guided rental, rescheduling, offering a private tour (additional rates apply), or issuing a full refund. Special requests, parties outside published group sizes, or bookings with dogs or children are handled by direct inquiry and phone booking. Mad Dogs & Englishmen focuses on guided, accessible e-bike experiences that combine coastal sightseeing with practical guest policies and clear booking options.
