About

Personal Locator Beacons (PLB's) offer a huge amount of added security when travelling into remote wilderness areas. Much of the Grampians/Gariwerd National Park doesn't offer phone coverage to normal carriers. It is highly recommended that when heading out in to less travelled areas; such as multi-day hikes like the Grampians Peaks Trail you carry some kind of emergency communication device. PLB's have the ability to send a distress signal which will reach the relevant emergency services in the local area.

Note: Most emergency communication devices rely on clear line of sight to active satellites travelling overhead. Coverage may be challenging in deep gorges/valleys and under thick tree canopy. PLB's should only ever be used in an EMERGENCY.

Please note

All gear hired from us must be returned to our office in Halls Gap unless otherwise organised
