Enjoy the longest surviving stretch of Route 66, the most famous highway in the world! This is a day road trip to Arizona with plenty of photo opportunities and roadside attractions.
The tour is available in 🇺🇸English and Portuguese 🇧🇷!
The morning begins with a visit to the Powerhouse Visitor Center and a walk through the upstairs Route 66 Museum in Kingman. Then we ascend into the Black Mountains on the steep and winding road through Sitgreaves Pass to Oatman, where the burros standing in the middle of the road have the right-of-way. We explore this former mining town that has been transformed into a Wild West tourist mecca, watch a gunfight like in the old western movies and have lunch at the Oatman Hotel and Cafe, a circa 1902 building reputed to have been the place where Hollywood stars Carole Lombard and Clark Gable spent the wedding night in 1939. Next we return to Las Vegas. It is important to note that this tour is not wheelchair accessible. Pets, unfortunately, are not allowed.
We'll spend some time in the desert today!
Be sure to bring/wear:
Arizona’s desert climate can be very dry; always carry sufficient water to stay hydrated during the tour.
You’ll be walking through museums and attractions, so sturdy, comfortable footwear is recommended.
Plenty of photo opportunities await along the route; ensure your camera or phone battery is charged.
Desert temperatures fluctuate significantly; layering allows you to stay comfortable throughout the day.
Route 66, established in 1926, was a major highway connecting Chicago to Los Angeles, symbolizing freedom and opportunity in mid-20th-century America.
Efforts to preserve Route 66 focus on maintaining historic landmarks and promoting responsible tourism that respects the fragile desert environment.
