About This Adventure

Experience a nostalgic journey as we recreate the iconic Farewell to Steam train from 1965. Join us for a steam-hauled adventure from London Paddington to Bristol and back, reliving railway history while enjoying exquisite dining options. Celebrate 60 years of heritage on this unique and memorable rail excursion.

In November 1965, Clun Castle hauled the Farewell to Steam special out of London Paddington, marking the end of Western Region steam under British Railways.

60 years on, and as our final special train to celebrate Railway 200, we will recreate this train, following the route from Paddington that the original special took all those years ago.

The train will be diesel hauled in to London Paddington, where Clun Castle will then haul the train out of the station over the Great Western Mainline to Bristol and from there returning to Birmingham and Widney Manor.
