About This Adventure

Embark on a private two-hour kayaking adventure from the historic Captain Whidbey Inn. Guided by an expert, explore the stunning Penn Cove, rich in history and wildlife. Experience the beauty of the coastline, all while enjoying the comfort of included equipment. Conclude your journey with a delightful meal overlooking the cove.

Your own private 2 hour kayak experience launches from the dock of the historic and charming Captain Whidbey Inn.

  • Additional Person - $75 each, up to 8 people total

Duration

Your guide will share the rich history, habitat and aquaculture of Penn Cove while you paddle along bluffs fringed with stately madronas and under the watchful eyes of herons and eagles. This journey is a great introduction to kayaking, with all equipment included, and no experience necessary. Cap your adventure with a drink or meal at the restaurant of The Captain Whidbey, enjoying their front-seat views of the cove.

What to expect:

  • We meet our paddlers on the dock of the Captain Whidbey Inn.
  • This tour is approximately 2 hours from start to finish, beginning with getting acquainted with your guide(s) and the equipment. We will ensure you are properly outfitted, prepared, and comfortable before you launch from the dock.
  • Some mobility is required because you will need to sit on the dock itself and then sit in the kayak. When the tour is done, you will move from the kayak to the dock, and then raise onto your knees, and then stand up.

  • Waterproof cellphone cases (fit most phones)

What to bring:

  • Bottle of water
  • Sun and eye protection such as sunglasses and/or a hat with a brim
  • Synthetic, athletic clothes that dry quickly and light shoes or sandals (or go barefoot)
  • Avoid cottons, like jeans and sweatshirts and heavy shoes and boots.
