About

Just to the south of the Hobart is Bruny Island. At roughly the same size as Singapore with a population of only 400 people. (As opposed to Singapore’s over 5 million). It is hard to find any more authentic food and wine experience than what is offered on Bruny Island. Spend some time on the island and discover local cheese, oyster and berry producers. If you’re visiting Hobart, a trip to Bruny Island the Huon Valley is well worth it.

Hobart is fast becoming a world class food and wine destination. Along with its stunning scenery, Bruny Island just to the South of Hobart showcases some of the best food and wine on offer. Departing your hotel this morning, head South West travelling through the beautiful Huon Valley. Passing by stunning countryside and the Huon River, you soon arrive at the tiny village of Kettering. Drive onto the Bruny Island ferry for the 20 minute ride across the crystal clear waters of D’Entrecasteaux Channel. On arrival on Bruny Island we stop at Bruny Island Cheese for morning tea. Enjoy a great coffee and something sweet, or taste some of the unique cheeses available.

Continuing on we climb “The Neck” for spectacular views of the whole of the Island. Climb the stair case to the top. Rejoining the vehicle we now head towards Get Shucked, for some world class Bruny Island oysters. Grown in the clean waters just meters from the shoreline, you can taste some local oysters with a local beer or wine. Lunch today is at Bruny Island Premium Wines. The estate is Australia’s most southern vineyard and located in the township of Lunawanna on Bruny Island. The winery produces Pinot noir and Chardonnay on its 120-acre site. Sit back and enjoy stunning views and a beautiful local menu. After lunch we enjoy more stunning scenery as we head to the Eastern side of the island and Bruny Island Berries. Again these locally grown berries have their own distinct taste and incredible freshness. Enjoy some berries for your desert. From here we rejoin the ferry for the trip back to the mainland. Travelling back through the Huon Valley we now head to the magnificent Mt Wellington. At almost 1300 meters above sea level and dwarfing over the city of Hobart, it offers incredible views out to sea and over the city. Afterwards rejoin your vehicle for the drive back to Hobart arriving at around 5pm.
