Want to get out of the Denver Metro area for a day and explore some of Colorado’s finest scenic destinations? Colorado Springs is only a little more than an hour drive from Denver and offers majestic views of sandstone rockscapes at Garden of the Gods. If weather conditions permit, we will drive to the top of America’s Mountain – Pike’s Peak – and enjoy sweeping views across the front range. We’ll stop for lunch in the charming town of Manitou Springs, where you can drink water from one of its 9 mineral springs.
This tour can be tailored to your liking: if you are interested in views, we will spend time finding ideal locations for photographs. If you want to find birds and other wildlife, we will take you on a variety of short hikes to look for foothills, montane, subalpine, and alpine species. This tour can produce birds like Woodhouse’s Scrub Jay, Townsend’s Solitaire, Canyon Wren, White-throated Swift, Prairie Falcon, American Dipper, Pygmy Nuthatch, Pine Grosbeak, Canada Jay, and if we’re lucky, maybe a Rosy-Finch or two. Bighorn sheep and mule deer are regularly spotted at Garden of the Gods and occasionally we’ll find Elk in the higher country.
