Embark on an unforgettable journey to become a certified PADI Open Water Diver! Start with online coursework, then practice skills in a pool before diving into the stunning Lake Hydra. With expert instruction in a supportive environment, you'll gain the confidence and knowledge to explore the underwater world.
Please Note: When booking, the available dates listed are for your confined pool session at Brooklyn Sports Club. Once you are booked, your instructor, Raul, will reach out to you to confirm dive training dates at Lake Hydra.
Start with PADI’s online eLearning course. Move to the pool and practice your new skills. Then experience four open water dives. During the PADI Open Water Diver course, you’ll learn what you need to know to explore the underwater world using scuba. Most people find it a rewarding challenge. A highly trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.
By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world. The PADI eLearning needs to be completed before the in-water training.
This covers the principles, concepts, and terms you need to know for dive safety and enjoyment. Scuba.com offers PADI eLearning for the Knowledge Development portion of the class, allowing our students to complete the academics at their own pace and in the comfort of their own homes.
During the Confined Water Dives, you learn and practice scuba skills in a pool. You’ll enjoy making one or more mini dives, which take you through the same steps you follow when you make open water dives.
Class is offered in the relaxed, supportive environment of the pool at the Brooklyn Sports Club: 1540 Van Siclen Ave Brooklyn, NY 11239
To complete training you practice, apply and demonstrate what you learned during the confined water dives. Scuba.com hosts the training dives in at the newly re-opened Lake Hydra (formerly Dutch Springs), the premier diving location for New York City divers.
Earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification shows that you met the course requirements. Dive centers and resorts require proof of certification before they will rent you scuba equipment, fill scuba cylinders or book dive excursions. As a PADI Open Water Diver, you’ll be trained to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet, and are qualified to dive in conditions as good as, or better than, those in which you trained. It’s just the beginning of a lifetime filled with dive adventures.
Finish the PADI eLearning before pool sessions to maximize in-water focus and progress smoothly.
