Great Alamance Creek is a relatively large, slow-moving tributary of the Haw River. This short and shady paddle trip begins at the Great Alamance Paddle Access off of Highway 87 and runs down to the creek's confluence with the Haw, where guests are free to explore the flatwater reservoir above the Puryear dam before dropping their boats off at the Lower Swepsonville River Park.
This trip is great for guests looking for a shorter downriver adventure, especially on hot, sunny days when the shade will be most appreciated. The creek is generally only about 3 feet deep, with shallower spots near the put-in and growing deeper by the take-out, and is runnable for most of the year.
All paddlers under the age of 18 that will not be accompanied by an adult should have a signed waiver from a parent/guardian before they can go on the trip.
To fit into a life vest, all passengers should be over the age of 5 years and at least 30 lbs.
A reservation can be rescheduled or canceled at least 24 hours in advance in order to receive full in-store credit towards a future trip or course. Cancellations or “no-shows” within 24 hours of a reservation will receive no credit or refund.
