What do you imagine when you think of “afternoon tea”? White gloves, formal chitchat, and dainty tea cakes? What about Women’s Suffrage, Civil Rights, and Social Justice? Throughout history, tea time has given women a chance to meet and talk about real challenges and find inspiration to make the world a better place. It was “over tea cups” with her cousin Nina that Juliette “Daisy” Low laid out her plans to start an groundbreaking new organization for girls.
Now, we cordially invite Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors to join us for afternoon tea and a tasting tour in Daisy’s family home. We’ll taste our way through stories from the life of Juliette Low and the Girl Scouts as we explore the house together. Then we’ll sit down to afternoon tea with light refreshments in the parlors of Daisy’s family home, where the first Girl Scout recruitment teas were held.
And maybe--just as it did for Daisy and other daring women before and since--your tea talk will inspire a new recipe for empowering women and girls!
