Join New Mexico Wilderness Alliance & Quiet Waters Paddling Adventures for a relaxing and educational paddling adventure through the restored Bosque through Santa Ana Pueblo and Rio Rancho Open Space!
Our outing will begin at 9:30 AM at our offices in Bernalillo with a short safety video followed by distribution of gear before departing to the put-in at the historic Baca Ranch in Algodones. Launching at about 10:30 AM, we'll spend the next three hours exploring the Rio as it passes along the spectacularly restored Bosque of Santa Ana Pueblo and Rio Rancho Open Space.
The northern reach through the pueblo features volcanic topography, and two small Class I rapids (artificial and part of the restoration work).
We'll break for a light picnic along the way (picnic provided), where we'll have an opportunity to discuss some of the issues facing the Rio Grande, as well as the other current projects the staff of NM Wild has prioritized for 2018/2019. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to support NM Wild's ongoing efforts in environmental stewardship.
