This hands-on day course is offered at Comox Lake in Cumberland, BC, and in Squamish, BC, and is perfect for climbers new to multi-pitch or those wanting to refine their skills. The course focuses on improving efficiency through better transitions at belay stations, enhanced communication, and more effective belay and climbing techniques—all while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety. Whether you're aiming to tackle bigger objectives or simply climb more confidently, we'll show you how to move smoothly and efficiently on the wall.
The course begins with practicing new skills and techniques to improve efficiency before heading out to climb a multi-pitch route as a team of three. Your guide will lead the way, demonstrating how to implement these skills at belay stations and throughout the climb. For the second multi-pitch route of the day, you'll take the lead with your guide right by your side to offer support, answer questions, and provide guidance as needed. This course is designed not only for sport climbers but also for those looking to build their skills for trad multi-pitch routes, with instruction tailored to your climbing goals.
Intermediate: For climbers with some experience, this level includes more technical climbs with steeper terrain, moderate endurance, and difficulty. You should be comfortable with top-rope climbing and able to handle more challenging routes. Fitness Level: Moderate fitness level required; comfortable climbing for several hours. Experience Level: Some climbing experience recommended; no prior multi-pitch experience required but helpful. Grade: Indoor routes: 5.8-5.10a (YDS) Focus: Intermediate climbing techniques and endurance Example: Top-rope climbing on moderately difficult routes, multi-pitch climbs on less challenging terrain
