This guided adventure focuses on backcountry safety and wildlife identification, making it perfect for active nature enthusiasts. This hike follows a 3 mile trail towards Morning Mountain. There is steady elevation gain throughout the hike, but we will take breaks to discuss the plants, wildlife and landscape.
The goal of this hike to make backcountry hiking in Alaska accessible by providing guests with relevant backcountry safety knowledge and as well as a little bit plant and animal identification.
Because of the terrain and duration of the hike, we recommend this hike to those who are able to regularly walk or exercise and would like to see some amazing mountain views.
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous Elevation gain of less than 1,000 feet (305 meters); may include some areas of muddy or boggy ground, large and uneven tussocks, rocks and generally uneven terrain.
We will offer hiking poles to all members of the group.
Weather Because we're hiking in such a mountainous area, the weather can change rapidly. So it's important to be prepared for sun or snow. We recommend waring layers of clothing that can be easily adjusted to suit the weather

Transportation
We will be meeting at the Denali Hostel & Cabins front office 15 minutes before the tour start time. If you are staying at McKinley Creekside Cabins, the Hostel driveway has a mail box is directly across the highway.
Denali Hostel & Cabins is within walking distance of the lodges in Carlo Creek, including The Perch, McKinley Creekside Cabins, and Carlo Creek Cabins.
We're unable to provide transportation at this time.
