FAQ

I want to do this with my friend/partner/son’s Boy Scout Troop/book club/extended family. How should we schedule the classes? Terrific! These mini-workshops have become a fun holiday tradition for groups of all sizes.

  • If there are four or fewer of you, we'll schedule your times back-to-back so you all work together in the same area of the shop.
  • For parties of five or more, we’ll schedule your group across both workstations.
  • If you have an especially large group, or special circumstances, feel free to call during normal studio hours to book time or learn more about our private events.

What’s the minimum age to make an ornament? Kiddos aged 5 and under are welcome to participate as observers only, and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For young people between 6-10 years old, it really depends on individual temperament: especially wiggly kids may do better sitting at the bench with a trusted adult while making the ornament. We've found that folks 11+ are fine crafting ornaments with our guidance.

I’d like to coordinate a private ornament-making session for my team/professional group/clients. Possible? Yes! Please note that for private parties of this type we do charge a small facility fee in addition to per-participant costs. We will also need to coordinate scheduling these around our existing ornament workshops. Please call 303.274.0643 or email events@furnaceglassworks.com to discuss the specifics.

Can we make other kinds of ornaments, not just round ones? Each year we try to offer a variety of options for our blown ornaments to keep this workshop fresh and fun. If you'd like to try a different glassmaking technique, or if you just don't like the heat of the hot shop, we are now also offering a limited number of fused-glass ornament classes during the season!
