Choose to add on the Black Fort excursion to this trip: It is a 20-minute walk up to the cliff edge. You have a spectacular view of Kilronan Harbor and you can see Herons nesting on a cliff edge just across from a lake on the way up. When you get to the cliff edge it is a 15-minute walk over to where the Fort is situated. From here you get a unique view of the cliffs that would be different from any other part of the island due to the shape of the cliff edge. There is a sense of solitude up here in comparison to The busy Dun Aonghusa. You can find the remains of early dwellings inside the fort where people used to live.
