Duration: 14 hours
Resting in Fuerteventura, we have a great opportunity to visit the entire neighboring island of Lanzarote in one day, only 12 km away from the port of Corralejo. Lanzarote is mostly formed by volcanic lava. The last volcanic eruption took place in 1824.
We usually start sightseeing from the Timanfaya National Park (the so-called Mountains of Fire). In the park, apart from passing a 14 km section between solified volcanic lava, we will be able to see three geothermal experiments. In Timanfaya Park, next to the restaurant, there is also one of the few grills in the world that uses the natural heat coming from the interior of our planet to grill food.
From Timanfaya we will go to an unusual place - the wine-growing region of La Geria. During a stop at one of the vineyards, we will have the opportunity to taste two varieties of Malvasia and Moscatel wine, which is produced in this region.
The next place will be a drive through the historic village of Teguise and we will go to the valley of the Thousand Palms.
In the town of Haria we have a planned stop at a local restaurant for lunch and regeneration. Then we will go to the caves of Jameos del Agua, where a local artist, Cesar Manrique, developed one of its parts, creating an unusual place to visit.
In Jameos del Agua, in the salt lake in the heart of the cave, you can admire small and blind endemic albino crabs, and have a coffee on one of the observation decks.
The last place will be the green and emerald lake in the south of the island, called El Golfo. At this point, we also have several minutes of free time to visit this place.
The return ferry leaves at 6pm so we need to be in Playa Blanca by 5.40pm maximum. After the 25-minute ferry crossing, the coach will take you back to your hotel.
