We’ll start with a little geography lesson to help you understand how it developed and grew in the curves of the Mississippi River. Next, we’ll set out walking. The Vieux Carre was initially settled by Native Americans, before the arrival of the French, Spanish, and enslaved Africans; it is our oldest neighborhood, and is steeped in a rich and vibrant history. We will bring this fascinating past to life by sharing the stories of the people who walked these streets & made up its colorful history. We'll discuss the varied architecture we pass, and the difference between what is Creole and what is Cajun. This tour is the French Quarter exclusively, if you want Tremé, oldest African American neighborhood, see our other tour options.
