The Charleston Tea Tree Plantation is located on historic Wadmalaw Island. In 1979, a French botanist brought a tea plant to the US and gifted it to Henry Middleton. Middleton planted it in his plantation and it flourished. This is the only brand of tea in the world that is made exclusively with 100% tea grown in America. Wadmalaw Island is also home to the Angel Oak. The tree is estimated to be 400-500 years old and it produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet. You will have plenty of time to enjoy both of these historic attractions in one day.
